Yes! We are exposed to infrared wavelengths every day and there are no reports of negative effects of infrared therapy. The sauna at Bespoke Bodywork is ultralow EMF (electromagnetic frequencies) making it a great choice for heat therapy and relaxation.
However, there are risks and precautions with any heat therapy method. You should avoid saunas of any kind if you:
*are pregnant or TTC
*have Multiple Sclerosis
*have a known heart condition
*are extremely sensitive to heat
If you are unsure, it’s always best to consult your doctor.
-
The highest setting on our sauna is 140 degrees Fahrenheit, but we will always set it to whatever you are comfortable with and will give suggestions based on your goals and heat tolerance.
It’s best to start out “slow and low”, less time and lower temperature to ensure you acclimate at a comfortable pace. The temperature can be adjusted during the session if desired.
-
You can schedule sauna time online when online booking is enabled, or reach out to me at jamikbodywork@gmail.com
-
Up to 10 minutes free with any session (no limit, schedule permitting)
More than 10 minutes can be scheduled at $1 per minute up to 30 minutes
-
The sauna is cleaned with a non-toxic antimicrobial solution after every session. The wood is also protected with a cover and clean towel for each person. Additionally, the heat and dry atmosphere help keep the inside of the sauna free from bacteria.
*The majority of clients that use the sauna at Bespoke are using it more for relaxation and tension relief vs. a “sweat sesh”!
PEMF Mat
The PEMF mat can be placed right on the treatment table and used during almost any session. The mat at Bespoke Bodywork also has infrared heat and red light options.
Jami has completed a certification in PEMF applications and safety through the Association of PEMF Professionals (AOPP)
-
PEMF stands for pulsed electromagnetic field. A PEMF mat is a therapeutic device that emits low frequency electromagnetic fields to stimulate increased cellular activity in the body to promote natural healing
-
There are many therapeutic applications for PEMF. Below is a list of potential benefits and common reasons to consider adding it to your bodywork session:
Pain reduction
Lowers blood pressure
Relax & decompress
Better sleep
Improved immune function
Settle restlessness
Improve mood & lower stress and tension
-
PEMF, or pulsed electromagnetic field, has been used in therapeutic settings since the 1970’s and is considered a safe adjunct therapy, based on numerous scientific studies including research conducted by NASA.
PEMF is non-invasive and uses low level, non-ionizing electromagnetic pulses that interact with the mitochondria in your body’s cells to stimulate increased production of ATP—this releases more energy the cells can use for many important bodily functions.
You should always start on a low level to ensure you don’t have any adverse effects. Though rare, some individuals may experience dizziness or nausea when first standing after a PEMF session due to lowered blood pressure.
Some general contraindications would be pregnancy (due to lack of research), pace makers or other implanted devices, joint replacements, blood or heart disorders, and organ transplants. If you have any serious medical conditions, please talk with your doctor before doing a PEMF session.
-
The mat at Bespoke Bodywork also has the option of red light therapy and/or infrared heat.
Red light has similar potential health benefits to PEMF, and can further enhance the soft tissue benefits such as pain relief, relaxation, and reducing inflammation.
Far infrared heat therapy adds another layer of comfort and deep relaxation as the warmth penetrates beyond the skin’s surface to relieve tension and calm the nervous system.
You can opt for 1, 2 or all three healing therapies the mat has to offer.
-
There is no need to schedule, unless you would like to have a mat session without bodywork.
You can write a note in your appointment or simply let me know you’d like to incorporate it into your session and I will have it ready on the treatment table.
-
There is a flat $5 add on fee to incorporate the PEMF mat into your session
